~ capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~

{pretty}

Evening sun on a gorgeous October day.

{happy}

My Apple Crumble Pie won second prize at a local Fall Festival we attended this past weekend!

{funny}

Little legs in rain boots just make me laugh. Pajama's, especially those with capes attached, are an added bonus.

{real}

I baked chocolate chip cookies for my husband (to thank him for painting* all weekend) during naps earlier this week. Within thirty seconds of waking up, my two-year-old had thrown that bag of four dozen, perfectly stacked cookies on the floor and managed to break every single one of them in an effort to get at them. Sigh. In honor's of a particular saint whose feast day is today:

Let nothing disturb you, nothing frighten you; All things are passing; God never changes.
- Saint Teresa of Avila

I suppose those inspiring words can apply even to a little housewife and her batch of cookies?! :)

*Sneak peek at our freshly painted kitchen walls in the photo above (since that's the only wall we've removed the tape from so far ;).

  2. O your pie looks professional!!!!! congratulations on winning a prize. I feel for you on the cookies.
    Once, my then 2 year old was at one end of a counter and the crock pot was at the other end of the counter filled with spaghetti sauce. He pushed all the cookbooks like dominoes and they knocked the crock pot on the floor. Spaghetti sauce everywhere. And it has now passed into something to laugh very hard about.....but then I needed to pray that prayer many many times in a row! = )
