Valentine's Day

It was nice having Valentine's Day land on a Saturday this year since that meant I got to spend the entire day with my sweetheart.

It also meant that I got to spoil all three of my boys with the one thing they love the most: food! (After all, that's what Valentine's Day is all about, right? ;)

-----

Enjoyed a healthy breakfast of chocolate chip waffles topped with homemade whipped cream and fresh strawberries. ;)

The boys and I made a small batch of pink and white heart shaped sugar cookies.

Rolling the dough into "snakes" and then shaping them into hearts is so much easier than cut-outs plus it's great for little hand's motor skills!

My dad dropped by for a quick visit to deliver little gifts for the boys and beautiful pink spray roses for me. (My mom was a flower lover so she trained him well! ;)

When I receive a bouquet of the same type of flower I like to separate them into several smaller bunches so that I have little jars of flowers in multiple places around the house.

The boys loved that even Pippa got dressed up for the day.

Of course Pippa didn't love it quite as much. That bow lasted about ten minutes. :)

Delivered homemade strawberry jam and handmade valentines to our neighbors.

Heart shaped peanut butter and homemade strawberry jam sandwiches for lunch.

Tea and cookies for my husband and me while the boys napped.

Enjoyed a light snowfall that afternoon. Just enough of a dusting to cover the old, dirty snow that's been there for weeks.

Mass that evening. The boys were extremely well behaved. A+'s all around this week.

Dinner was steak grilled by my husband. For sides I made Caesar Salad and Crusty Bread. (This recipe: super easy and unbelievably good!)

The boys each received a handmade valentine, a mini box of chocolates and a little bag of gummy worms.

We let them pick one piece of candy to eat before bed.

My husband and I watched an additional three inches of snow fall while we exchanged cards, candy and little gifts.

Ended the day feeling very loved by my heavenly Father and very grateful for the people he has placed in my life.
