This has been my family's traditional Christmas breakfast for years and I promise it will not disappoint!
The best part about this recipe is that you prepare it the night before and all you have to do in the morning is pop it in the oven to bake (and fill your home with the most delicious aroma) while you exchange Christmas presents.
This recipe yields 4 servings but it can easily be doubled.
-----------
{Christmas Morning Baked French Toast}
fresh french bread, sliced 1/2 inch thick
1 stick of butter
1 c. brown sugar
4-6 medium macintosh apples, peeled & sliced 1/4 inch thick
5 eggs
1 1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 t. vanilla
Melt butter in pan. Add sugar and mix together. Add apple slices. Cover mixture with bread, placing slices tightly together. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, uncover and bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Top should be golden brown.
{enjoy!}

{Merry Christmas!}
