Happy Homemaker Monday

yummy owl faces - idea from clubhouse junior magazine

{weather outside}

Although the temperature is only in the low 30's at the moment, I felt a twinge of Spring in the air when I was outside feeding the chickens. The temperature is expected to reach the mid 40's by this afternoon so hopefully we will get to enjoy some sunshine later.

{around my home:}

My oldest is doing his addition problems at the kitchen table, my middle son is eating his oatmeal at the kitchen table and I am watching them while nursing my littlest in the living room. We are chatting about the fact that the beautiful tulips my husband gave me for Valentine's Day are almost dead. I can hear my son adding 3 + 5 on the abacus, classical music playing on the radio, a garbage truck down the street, and the birds chirping outside my front window. There is a lingering scent of cinnamon and strawberry in the air from our breakfast. Aside from some of my littlest's toys scattered around on the rug and a nice big pile of muddy clothes by the side door, the house is pretty tidy at the moment.

{on my mind:}

Reflecting on the nice weekend we enjoyed together as a family has been filling my heart with joy and gratitude. We got a little taste of Spring with the temperature going up as high as 60 degrees on Saturday! (And that's after a record low of -2 degrees last Sunday!) We had some muddy boys on our hands both Saturday and Sunday night but they had such a blast outside, making mud pies, chasing chickens, and stomping in the mostly melted snow that I didn't mind a bit. We ate lots of pizza and ice cream, watched a couple of movies - The Land Before Time and Ant Man - enjoyed my sister's company for dinner, went to my cousin's basketball game, and my husband and I got to go running together, all the boys in tow. I had almost forgotten how much I love warm weather!

{looking forward to:}

Spring! Now that we've had a little taste, I'm ready for more!

{verse:}

But Jesus came and touched them saying, 'Rise, and do not be afraid.'
- Matthew 17:7

  1. Sounds like a wonderful, fun, family weekend, Laura!
    And those are the best kind.
    The sun is shining here today, and our snow is slowly melting...
    The air is still chilly, so we are cozy inside.
    Have a cozy week with your sweet people. : )

  2. Oh love those owl faces! Too cute and will need to show Annie! ;)

    We had one 60* day on our recent trip and it was heavenly! I'm so ready for a bit more of that thank you very much!! Soon - so I really try to be patient.

    Your menu always sounds so healthy but yummy and comforting. I wish I could get my hubby to like healthier soups (he likes all the cream based ones) - and fish (he will NOT eat it). Oh well - he does love salads and healthier stir fry and pasta dishes. Lol

    I need to visit your shop and may request your services on a special project for the future. Will let you know soon.
    Kiss those sweet Boys for me. Blessings on your week ahead dear Laura! xoxo

  3. Those owl faces are cute. I love that they seem to use "normal" ingredients. Was Ant Man any good? We haven't seen that one yet. Hope you have a great week!
