~ capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~

{pretty}

The icing on the cake is when my nails match my fabric.

{happy}

Curling up on the couch with three boys and a blanket on my lap to read cozy, wintry books is the very best way to spend a snow day.

{funny}

I guess when your sons have no sisters it's up to their mother to expose them to the concept of hair bows. I have clearly failed in that department since my boys found it hilarious that this little girl had butterflies in her hair.

{real}

It takes more than a fall to the ice for our chicken egg membranes to break! Good thing since I'm sure I drop at least an egg every other day!

  4. I have cousins who grew up in a family of four boys. After one of them got married his wife asked him to hand her her barrettes as she did her hair. He had no idea what she was talking about! He thought it was some kind of undergarment. Good for you to introduce your boys to items used by the other half of the population. I miss reading stories to my children who are now all grown up; and we're still waiting for grandchildren. Love your nails against the fabric!

  6. Boys are fun!
    Pretty nails and fabric. The fabric reminds me of something my mom made me when I was young.

  7. Oh the nostalgia I get when I look at posts like this! I loved that Snow book and remember reading it to my baby Brother! ::sigh:: Seems like 100 years ago! Lol ;)

    I love the "butterfly" bows - gave me a giggle.

    That fabric is so dreamy and will be the prettiest blanket - and LOVE those nails!!

    Yay for tough eggs! Probably because you have good tough chickens. Lol!!

  8. I broke an egg in my pocket last night. I had five in each pocket, and I bent down to pick something up, and I heard it break. I jiggled my pocket a bit, just to make certain, and it sure sounded kind of sloshy! I had to be careful this morning to keep that pocket empty, until I could wash my coat after morning chores. :-)
