The heat and humidity have finally found us and I'm loving these hazy days and stormy evenings.
Our daily bucket activities are still the highlight of boys' day especially now that the weather is cooperating! As soon as he wakes up in the morning my oldest asks if it's his turn to pick the 'bucket activity' from the bright orange pail on our counter that day. I'm just enjoying their excitement over such simple fun.

This week:
We turned strawberry banana smoothies into frozen popsicles for a refreshing treat. The hardest part for the boys was having to wait!
We packed up our basket with a stack of books, a blanket and a snack and headed to the back yard for a reading picnic.
We played hop-scotch on the driveway. My middle guy was just happy to scribble so I was able to focus my attention on helping my oldest perfect his hopping skills. (I like that we got to squeeze in some practice with his number skills too! ;)
We turned a bag of lemons into sweet lemonade. I particularly enjoyed this 'activity.' There's nothing as refreshing as fresh squeezed lemonade on a hot and humid day.
We made pipe-cleaner worms. My oldest named his 'Wormy.' My second son tore his apart immediately because he just wanted to play with the pom-pom and the stick. :)
We started reading the original Winnie-the-Pooh collection together. My almost four-year-old loves the stories of the 'silly old bear' and, while it doesn't always hold the attention of my two-year-old, he is content to simply point at the bumble bee border on every page and say "bug" over and over.

The lemonade looks scrumptious - I am a lemonade lover from way back! Your blue worm is really a great idea, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the worm craft idea!! And I'm going to see if I can find those Winnie the Pooh books. I have the complete collection in one huge book. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images. I love your perspective.
ReplyDeleteI love the reading picnic and hopscotch ideas! Stealing them for future use. :)
