Happy Homemaker Monday

{weather outside:}

Snowing heavily.

{breakfast this morning:}

Strawberry Steel-Cut Oatmeal.

{outside my window:}

Thick, clumpy snowflakes falling onto the eight inches or of snow so we already have making for a very white, very pretty scene.

{right now I am:}

Drinking tea at the kitchen table while my boys nap.

{as I look around the house:}

Other than toys and a basket of laundry to fold, tidy enough for me to be content.

{today's to-do list:}

~vacuum rugs
~polish hardwood
~make fresh butter with boys
~pre-k: letter "W" & number "6"
~paint trim in bedroom

{currently reading:}

The Fiddler by Beverly Lewis (almost finished)
Hail Holy Queen by Scott Hahn (just started)
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis (with 3-year-old)

{currently watching:}

Gilmore Girls (Haven't watched an episode in nearly a week and I'm kind of embarrassed to admit how much I've missed it considering I've already seen the entire seven season show several times! :)

{on the menu this week:}

monday: Chili & Cornbread
tuesday: Burritos
wednesday: Leftovers
thursday: Beef & Vegetable Soup with Brown Bread
friday: Steak Salad with Sweet Potato Fries

{creating at the moment:}

Finishing up my nephew's baby blanket and picking out fabric to start on new curtains.

{new recipe to try:}

I know I can trick my little boys into eating these Sweet Potato Brownies with no problem but would I be able to fool my husband?

{favorite photo:}

We celebrated Pippa's (our kitty) first birthday on Saturday. Chocolate Black Bean Cupcakes with Whipped Cream and Strawberries on top for the humans and a Canned Cat Food 'Cupcake' with a candle in the middle for Pippa. The boys were so excited to celebrate her birthday and give her the birthday gift they helped pick out. I love how easy and natural it is for children to find joy in the little things.
